Paris Rambles with Kids

Castle and Playground...

They like the Sleeping Beauty’s castle? They love their Playmobil® knights? They will adore the Vincennes castle, because… a real king built it and lived in it… a long, long time ago… And then, there is one of Paris’ greatest playgrounds, the Parc Floral, nearby with amazing features for kids and grown-ups.

I’ll take you on the automatic train that brings us to the foot of a 14th c. castle. It was Charles the Vth who had it built. He wanted it to be a stronghold with double walls, drawbridges, crenels, and watchtowers so he could be safe when it was not so safe to stay in Paris. The castle was erected to impress the king’s enemies but also his people: there is for example an outside staircase so the king and the queen could parade up and down and be seen by everybody. When walking the king’s steps, we’ll hunt for the strangest dolphin you will ever encounter and learn why this creature was so important to the king… We will discover his small office, his study, his chapel, and his bedroom with some of the original decorations. It was his wish to have a copy of the Paris Sainte-Chapelle right there, but did not live to see it completed...

1.5 to 2-hour visit of the Castle - you'll be on your own in the Playground

How other visitors feel about the Vincennes trip: "Merci beaucoup! We had such a grant time, thank you for showing us around and teaching us about the magnificent history of Paris.  The girls had such fun and a wonderful personalized history lesson. We hope to return sooner than later.
